Il Centro di Ricerca Matematica Ennio De Giorgi annuncia che il Prof.
Arghir Zarnescu
terrà il 28 luglio dalle 11 alle 12 presso la Sala Conferenze del Centro il
seguente seminario
Titolo:
"Point defects in liquid crystal models: between Oseen-Frank and Landau-de
Gennes"

Abstract:
"The most striking characteristic of nematic liquid crystals, the defect
patterns are still
not understood at a fundamental level and various theories provide
competing explanations.
We focus on point defects in 2d and 3d and present recent work on their
qualitative description and energetic stability. This is joint work with
Radu Ignat, Luc Nguyen, Valeriy Slastikov."
