Subject: PhD studentships in Cambridge Centre for Analysis and Open day

Dear colleagues,

It would be great if you could bring the following possibility to the
attention of students who are interested in pursuing a PhD next year.We are
looking for outstanding students who are keen to do a PhD in one of our core
areas of analysis: computational analysis and mathematics of information
(including inverse problems, mathematical imaging, and compressed sensing),
partial differential equations, stochastic analysis and statistics. The CCA
will be holding an open day on the 27th of November 2014,
seehttp://www.maths.cam.ac.uk/postgrad/cca/D

Deadline for applications is the 15th of January 2015.

Thanks a lot in advance and best wishes!
Carola Schönlieb

CCA PhD in Mathematical Analysis

A four-year PhD in Mathematics, in an area of Analysis or it's Applications.
The scope includes Partial Differential Equations, Geometric
Analysis, Probability, Computational Analysis, High-Dimensional or
Non-Parametric Statistics and Mathematics of Information.

The CCA PhD follows EPSRC's cohort-based training model. A unique first year
programme offers wide-ranging training in Analysis, emphasising teamwork and
offering opportunities to work on two research projects, one supervised in
the Faculty of Mathematics, the other by a user of mathematics in another
department of the University or in industry.

Prerequisites
The prerequisites for the CCA PhD course are:

• a four-year undergraduate degree in mathematics or a mathematics-related
subject; or a three-year undergraduate degree plus a Masters degree in
mathematics or a mathematics-related subject
• prior experience studying analysis is an advantage
• candidates should be able to demonstrate evidence of excellence.

Make an application
The closing date for applications is 15 January 2015. Applicants from
outside the UK/EU who seek scholarships should apply well before: refer to
the Graduate Admissions website for information. If you would like to make
an application, sign up to our mailing list: you will receive an email when
we start taking applications for the course and another when the date for
the annual open day is confirmed.

Open Day
The CCA Open Day 2014 will take place on 27 November 2014. Events will be
held in the afternoon and will consist of talks by the CCA Co-Directors,
Q&A, student talks and a tour of the department. Register to attend.
