The PhD will be funded by the French-German project "Derivation and analysis of effective suspension models".

Within Analysis of (nonlinear) PDEs, the topic of the PhD will be the rigorous understanding of complex phenomena in particle-laden fluids and involves tools from fluid dynamics, homogenization, kinetic theory, optimal transport and$/$or stochastic analysis. Regensburg University has a very active PDE community. In addition to the French-German project SUSPENSIONS, the successful candidate will be integrated into the scientific environment of the research training group IntComSin, which provides a lively working environment. In particular, the doctoral student will benefit from a structured course programme in partial differential equations, calculus of variations, numerical analysis, scientific computing, mathematical modeling, and professional skills. Moreover, we offer numerous possibilities of scientific exchange both on the national and on the international level.

Candidates should hold or shortly acquire a Master degree in mathematics and should be highly motivated mathematicians with a strong background and interest in the analysis of PDEs and topics in the project SUSPENSIONS.
