Postdoc position in Bath (UK)

created by zimmer on 02 Jan 2014

Deadline: 15 jan 2014

Applications are invited for a 3 year postdoctoral Research Officer position in the Department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Bath. The successful applicant will take up the post on 1 August 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is part of the project "A novel passage from particles to PDEs far from equilibriums" funded by the Leverhulme Trust. The aim of this project is to develop analytic scale-bridging techniques for dynamics, notably nonlinear or stochastic diffusive processes. The project is motivated by, and aims to contribute to, key mathematical challenges in the derivation of nonequilibrium systems as described by GENERIC (General Equation for Non-Equilibrium Reversible-Irreversible Coupling).

In Bath, the project will be supervised by Dr Johannes Zimmer. The project is a collaboration with Dr. Nicolas Dirr, Cardiff University.
