Deadline: 10 dec 2023

The Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University, Prague, opens two postdoc positions in the ERC-CZ Grant LL2105, supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport of the Czech Republic: ”The interaction of fluids and solids”, Research overview: The working group studies various subjects in continuum mechanics, in particular solid mechanics and fluid-mechanics. The methods of study are those of mathematical analysis in partial differential equations and in the calculus of variations. The central ambition is investigations of fluid-solid interactions.

Job description: We seek mathematicians to strengthen the team of Sebastian Schwarzacher and Barbora Benesova at the Department of Mathematical Analysis and, in particular, to apply or develop analysis or numerics to fluid-structure problems studied within the project. Thus, the ideal candidate has already contributed within at least one of the following scientific areas: –Analysis for models of solid or fluid mechanics –Numerics for models of solid or fluid mechanics –Calculus of Variations –Analysis for evolutionary PDEs The postdoc positions are for 3 years (1+2). The earliest possible start is January 2024 and should be filled by October 2024. The successful candidates will be hired by the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and receive a gross salary of 60000 CZK (around 2440 euro) per month; the candidates will have access to substantial travel funds.
