The Department of Mathematics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg offers a

Postdoctoral Position (Wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin - Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter) Salary Level E 13 TV-L, 100 %

This fixed-term position is available from the earliest possible date. The appointment is for two years. Teaching load is 5 hours per week during lecture time.

The successful candidate is expected to join the research activities in the Calculus of Variations group (headed by M. Friedrich). The research of the group focuses on calculus of variations and partial differential equations with applications in continuum mechanics, including free-discontinuity problems, atomistic systems, and evolution equations. Applicants should have (or be close to obtain) a PhD in Mathematics or related areas. A strong background in calculus of variations or applied analysis is required.
