The Institute of Information Theory and Automation, Czech Academy of Sciences (http:/www.utia.cas.cz) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral position in the Department of Decision-Making Theory (with a possibility of a tenure-track) ideally beginning in February 2020.

Most of departmental research activities belong to the area of applied mathematics, the focus is on theoretical problems as well as problems connected with implementations of methods in the following areas:
• mathematical optimization
• nonsmooth analysis
• partial differential equations
• variational calculus
• probabilistic models of decision support systems
• conditional independence structures
• artificial intelligence
• mathematical fuzzy logic

Candidates are expected to work in one of the above mentioned or closely-related areas and to have a strong record of, or outstanding potential for, significant research. In particular, candidates working in the last four listed areas are strongly encouraged to apply. Moreover, experience in obtaining third-party funds is advantageous. The institute offers a monthly salary of CZK 40 000 (about 1 570 EURO) and yearly benefits supporting e.g. recreational, and sport activities, as well as health care programs.
