The Department of Mathematical Sciences at Durham University invites applications for a 22-month postdoctoral position in the Analysis and PDEs group, to begin no later than October 2018. The position is funded by Durham University and the EPSRC First grant EP/R013527/1 Designer Microstructure via Optimal Transport Theory. The postdoctoral researcher will be supervised by David Bourne.

Applications are encouraged from candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: applied analysis, numerical optimization, inverse problems, optimal transport theory, and the calculus of variations.

Applications are particularly welcome from women and black and minority ethnic candidates, who are under-represented in academic posts in the University.
