Applications are invited for a

PhD position

(half time) at the Chair of Nonlinear Analysis at the Institute for Mathematics at Augsburg University, Germany (Prof. B. Schmidt) starting at the earliest possible date.

The initial appointment will be made for one year and can be extended to two more years. It includes a teaching load of 2.5 hours per week during lecture time. The salary is according to the German public service tariff scale E 13 TV-L (50%).

Applicants are expected to join the research activities at the Chair of Nonlinear Analysis and will be given the opportunity to write a PhD thesis.

Job requirements are a master’s degree in mathematics or physics and a good working knowledge in analysis, in particular in areas such as the calculus of variations, partial differential equations, geometric measure theory, or mathematical continuum mechanics.
