Postdoctoral position on Variational approach to fracture mechanics

created by lemenant on 10 Nov 2015

Deadline: 1 dec 2015

The departments of mechanics and mathematics of Paris 6 University is looking for a one-year postdoctoral researcher on the topic of ``variational approach to fracture mechanics''. The funding relies on an interdisciplinary project between the Institut Jean Le Rond d'Alembert and the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions. It is financed by the Calsimlab http:/ics.sorbonne-universites.frprojetslaboratoire-dexcellence-calsimlab.html.

The candidates should preferably be familiar with modern methods of calculus of variations and(or) variational approach to fracture mechanics. Since an important part of the project will consist in performing numerical simulations, a strong background on numerical analysis and scientific computation will be appreciated.

There is a possibility to extend the postdoc to a second year.
