Postdoc and PhD-student position in Applied Math in Vienna

Applications are invited for

one Postdoc and one PhD-student position

starting in December 2014 or as soon as possible thereafter. Both appointments are limited to three years. The annual gross salaries are approximately 49 keuro and 18 keuro, respectively.

The successful candidates will join the Research Group on Applied Mathematics and Modeling at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna led by Prof. Ulisse Stefanelli.

The positions are financed via the FWF project GloVE- Global Variational Methods for Evolution Equations. Successful candidates are expected to join the research activities of the Group and contribute to the development of the project. The Predoc position is associated with the enrollment in the PhD program in Mathematics at the University of Vienna.

Applicants for the Postdoc and PhD-student position should have a PhD or a Master, respectively, in Mathematics or Physics, as well as a strong background in applied analysis. The current interests of the Group include calculus of variations, partial differential equations, and continuum thermomechanics.
