Deadline: 20 nov 2026
Applications are invited for 1 postdoctoral position (Incarico postdoc) in GMT and Geometric Analysis at the Department of Mathematics "Federigo Enriques", University of Milan.
The position is funded by the FIS 2 Starting Grant "SiGmA" (Singularities in Geometric Analysis: Minimal Surfaces and Mean Curvature Flows), led by Prof. Salvatore Stuvard.
The successful candidate will work on problems at the intersection of Geometric Analysis, Geometric Measure Theory, and the Calculus of Variations. Specific research topics include:
- Regularity theory for minimal surfaces and their singular sets;
- Weak notions of Mean Curvature Flow and flow through singularities;
- Parabolic and elliptic PDEs related to geometry.
The position is for 18 months, extendable depending on availability of fundings. The starting date is as soon as possible after the selection process ends, with tentative February 1st 2027. The salary is highly competitive, corresponding to the salary of a full-time confirmed researcher in Italy.
The grant provides generous travel support and funding for visiting periods in Italy and abroad.
You will be given time to study, develop your research skills, and form your own research program. You will not have teaching duties, but you will have the opportunity, if desired, to teach a graduate level course within the Graduate School in Mathematical Sciences at the University of Milan.
Applications are submitted exclusively online via the University of Milan portal (Competition Code: 700064). Please, visit the linked page on the website of Prof. Salvatore Stuvard for detailed information on the application process, including a guide through the application portal.
The deadline is November 20 2026 at 11:59 AM Italian time (CET).
