Applications are invited for a full-time research postdoctoral position under the supervision of Prof. Alessio Figalli and Prof. Francesco Maggi. The focus of the research conducted by the candidate will be on: variational problems in nonlinear elasticity related to crumpling, gradient flows, variational problems involving surface tension and nonlocal energies, and regularity for elliptic equations and systems. This position is part of a NSF Focused Research Group (FRG) grant project, "Vectorial and geometric problems in the calculus of variations" with PIs L. C. Evans, A. Figalli, F. Maggi, and O. Savin.

This position is a benefits-eligible temporary training position for a recent PhD graduate. Applicants must have received the PhD within three years of their starting date. The annual salary of this position is $56,000 and carries no teaching duties. The appointment is for up to three years, conditional on satisfactory progress and availability of funding. Flexibility will be allowed for a starting date between January 2015 and September 2015, depending on the situation of the successful candidate.
