Project Scientist at the Pi Center (IMPA, Rio de Janeiro)

MPA is accepting applications for a project scientist position at Centro Pi (IMPA Center for Projects and Innovation). The position is permanent, on a non-tenure-track basis, and focuses on working on technology projects in the fields of Mathematical Sciences and related areas. The successful candidate will work to identify opportunities, build partnerships, and develop projects that bridge the gap between research and technological innovation. Interested candidates may apply by January 15, 2027.
Key responsibilities include securing funding, coordinating, and implementing technology projects in Mathematical Sciences and related fields, such as natural language processing, scientific machine learning, and computational physics. The professional will also be expected to produce research articles and technical reports, teach courses, supervise technology internships, master’s dissertations, and doctoral theses, as well as contribute to the dissemination of knowledge through books, videos, lectures, and events. Participation in IMPA committees and councils is also part of the position’s responsibilities.
