Deadline: 31 dec 2026
We invite expressions of interest from researchers interested in joining a project on the mathematical foundations of quantum information and quantum technologies, coordinated by Augusto Gerolin at Instituto de Matemática Pura e Aplicada (IMPA, Rio de Janeiro).
Candidate profile We welcome expressions of interest from PhD researchers and postdoctoral candidates with a strong background in one or more of the following areas: Calculus of Variations, Optimization, Optimal Transport Theory, Mathematical Physics, and Quantum Physics.
For the postdoctoral position, candidates should hold a PhD in mathematics, applied mathematics, physics, or a closely related field, or expect to complete their doctorate before taking up a fellowship requiring that qualification.
Previous research experience in quantum information is welcome but not essential. Researchers with a strong mathematical background who are motivated to bring their expertise to quantum problems are particularly encouraged to make contact. We value mathematical depth, curiosity, and a willingness to collaborate across disciplinary boundaries.
Please send an email to Augusto Gerolin — gerolin@impa.br, with the subject line “Expression of Interest — PCI Quantum Information”, including: - A curriculum vitae, with a publication list where applicable. - A brief description of your research background and interests, explaining their connection to the project. - Your current position, PhD completion date or expected completion date, and potential availability.
Informal enquiries about the scientific scope and suitability of your background are welcome.
This is a preliminary call for expressions of interest, rather than a formal selection announcement or an offer of a fellowship. Fellowship categories, eligibility requirements, duration, stipend, and starting dates will be specified in the formal selection process.
