Deadline: 31 aug 2026
We are inviting expressions of interest for two postdoctoral positions within the ERC research group ConFine in charge of Prof. Adolfo Arroyo Rabasa. The official call for applications (the bando) is expected to be published in September 2026, with highly flexible starting dates ranging between Q4 2026 and Q2 2027.
Research Activities:
The successful candidates will work on deep questions at the intersection of PDEs, GMT, Calculus of Variations, and Harmonic Analysis. You will have the flexibility to choose from and work on any of the following projects:
- Advancing the state of the art concerning the flat chain conjecture (GMT, HA)
- Several aspects concerning Bouchitté’s vanishing mass conjecture (CV, GMT, HA, OT)
- Fine properties of varifolds with bounded first variations (CV, GMT)
- Fine properties of $BD$ and $BV^A$
functions (CV, GMT, HA)
- Aspects of optimal transport in the flow of measures along tangential directions (GMT, OT)
Specific Responsibilities:
Candidates will work closely with the PI on the chosen problems, attend courses and conferences related to the project's goals, and help co-organize seminars and conferences for the research group. Teaching duties are not compulsory but are encouraged (as a means to strengthen early-career CVs) and permitted in alignment with the PI's input and Department needs.
Submission Guidelines:
Because the timeline for the position is flexible, interested candidates are highly encouraged to send their preliminary materials now, ahead of the official call. Please send the following documents directly to Prof. Adolfo Arroyo Rabasa at adolfo(dot)rabasa@unipi(dot).it:
- A current CV
- Two letters of recommendation
- Up to 3 relevant publications (including your doctoral thesis, if applicable)
