Deadline: 8 jun 2026

Applications are now open for two 24-month postdoctoral research positions at the Department of Mathematics, University of Trento, within the FIS2 project BRIDGE "Beyond Regularity in Differential Geometric Evolutions" - PI: Prof. Paolo Bonicatto.

The official call and application instructions are available at this link.

Applications must be submitted through the University of Trento online portal no later than 12:00 CEST on 8 June 2026.

The positions are for 24 months and are research-only appointments. The expected starting date is 1st August 2026, with some flexibility. The gross salary is €50,000 per year per position.

Project description. The project BRIDGE aims at developing new tools for the analysis of evolutionary problems and differential equations in low-regularity regimes, with particular emphasis on problems at the interface between geometric measure theory, partial differential equations, calculus of variations, and harmonic analysis. See the official webpage for further information.

Candidate profile. These positions are particularly well suited for candidates who have a strong background in one or more of the following areas: geometric measure theory, transport equations, theory of currents, analysis of PDEs, calculus of variations. The call lists as a preferential qualification at least one year of postdoctoral research activity closely related to geometric measure theory, transport equations or the theory of currents.

Applications should include a CV, up to 5 publications and the contact details of up to two experts who, upon request, may provide reference letters.

Funding. The positions are funded by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) through the Fondo Italiano per la Scienza, FIS2 BRIDGE.

Important note. For anyone who, at the time the contract begins, has been working outside Italy for at least the previous 2 years (regardless of Italian citizenship), it will be possible to access a tax relief scheme (“Rientro dei Cervelli”). Candidates who are eligible for this scheme may receive a substantially higher net salary. Please note that the actual net amount may vary depending on individual circumstances.
