Institute of Mathematics of the Polish Academy of Sciences (IMPAN) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position within the NCN Sonata project Variational problems from image processing and crystal models led by Dr. Michał Łasica.

The theme of the project is mathematical analysis (well-posedness, regularity, singular limits etc.) of variational problems arising in image restoration and computer vision, as well as models of crystal grain boundaries. The project also involves numerical experiments.

Terms:
Application deadline: April 8th, 2026.
Starting date: May–December 2026.
Employment period: 12 months (with possibility of extension).
Monthly salary: approx. 9 600 PLN gross (corresponding to around 1 750 EUR net).
Location: Warsaw, Poland.

No teaching duties. Funding available for conference participation etc.
