We seek to hire a PhD student with an interest in geometric analysis and its applications in mathematical biology. The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Dr. Simon Blatt as part of the analysis group of the University Salzburg under Prof. Dr. Verena Bögelein.
Possible research topics include:
Classical or fractional elastic energies for curves or surfaces,
Modeling and analysis of multiphase vesicles and bio membranes,
Long- and short-time existence results for extrinsic geometric evolution equations,
Self-repulsive energies for curves and surfaces and the underlying degenerate and singular fractional partial differential equations
We expect the candidate to have:
A master's degree in mathematics
Strong English skills and enthusiasm for collaborative research
Ideally a focus on either calculus of variations, differential geometry, or partial differential equations
Job Details:
Position for four years
30 h per week
Teaching load: Two hours per week from the second year
Salary: €2,786.10month (14× yearly, commensurate with experience)
