The University of Pisa, supported by ERC Starting Grant "ConFine: Concentrations and Fine Properties of Measures Satisfying a PDE Constraint" under the direction of Prof. Adolfo Arroyo-Rabasa, announces the public selection for the assignment of two PhD positions in the Theory of compensation for partial differential equations in geometric and variational problems at the Department of Mathematics.

  •  Position Description

Successful candidates will learn and contribute to research projects focused on one or more of the following areas:

- Calculus of Variations (Young measures, PDE restrictions, rigidity estimates)
- Fourier Analysis (in relation to compensated compactness)
- Geometric Measure Theory (structure of varifolds, conjectures related to metric currents)
- Partial Differential Equations (compensated compactness, compensated regularity, Korn-type inequalities)

CV: Make sure your CV includes the following information

- Signed and accompanied by a photocopy of a valid identification document. It should detail your educational background, professional experience, and research experience
- Your curriculum must include a brief paragraph (maximum 1 page) describing your reasons for applying for the PhD scholarship on "Compensation Theory in Geometric and Variational Problems" under the supervision of Professor Arroyo Rabasa from the Department of Mathematics at the University of Pisa

Master's Degree Thesis: If you have already obtained your degree, submit your full Master's degree thesis. If you have not yet obtained your degree, submit a summary of your thesis

Diploma Supplement or Academic Transcript: Provide documentation of all exams taken during your university career, including exam grades and the final grades for both your Bachelor's (three-year) and Master's degrees (if already obtained) or their equivalents

Publications (Optional): Include copies of any publications you may have
