The Computer Science Department at the University of Verona offers a two-year postdoc ("contratto di ricerca") on
"Mean field games, transport and optimisation in self-organising systems and machine learning"
This is formally labelled as a postdoc in analysis (MATH-03A) but is open to people working in other areas of mathematics (such as probability and numerics) as well. Applicants are required to submit a research proposal. The deadline for application is on the 30th April at 1pm.
The postdoc is founded by the Ministry of University and Research (D. Dir. 47-2025). As per the constraints set by the ministry, the postdoc *MUST* start by the 15th May 2025.
Short description of the project:
The project integrates mean-field game theory, calculus of variations, and collective dynamics of interacting agents, even in the presence of random perturbations. It aims at developing, using optimal transport and stochastic analysis tools, numerical and machine learning models for the geometric analysis of high-dimensional data distributions and applications in neural networks and reinforcement learning.
