Candidates should be interested in pursuing a PhD in partial di

equations or the calculus of variations related to the research topics

2- Orange-Telecom Paristech postdoc position in convex optimization (12
months)

Telecom ParisTech and Orange Labs are seeking applicants for a postdoc
position in numerical Optimization. Particular interest is in candidates
with a research orientation broadly related to the area of convex
optimization with applications to heterogeneous big data. The aim of the
postdoc will be to develop new stochastic optimization methods for
solving non-smooth machine learning problems of large dimensions. A
special emphasis will be put on the development and the analysis of
random coordinate descent methods in a distributed framework. Knowledge
in reinforcement learning is welcome. The candidate is expected to work
in joint collaboration with the both project partners (Orange, Telecom
Paristech) and to participate to the scientific animation of the
partnership.

Applications should include a cover letter, a detailed resume, a list of
publications, a statement of research interests. All materials should be

3- International Master's program in Mathematics at the University of
Würzburg, October 2015

Starting in October 2015, there will be an International Master's
program in Mathematics at the University of Würzburg, Institute for
Mathematics.
In the coming winter term I will offer a "Research in Groups" on
analytical aspects of elastic bodies and microstructures in the context
of the calculus of variations as well as on analytical aspects of the
Navier-Stokes equations. Further there will be a seminar on Minimal
surfaces and Harmonic maps among many other courses.

4- Workshop "Optimization in Machine Learning, vision and image
processing" les 6 et 7 octobre à Toulouse

CIMI (Centre International de Mathématiques et d'Informatique de
Toulouse) de septembre à décembre 2015, un workshop "Optimization in
Machine Learning, vision and image processing" aura lieu les 6 et 7
octobre à Toulouse.

12- Soutien a evenement GdR MOA

Comme chaque année, le GdR MOA souhaite apporter un soutien aux
événements (école, conférences, workshop...) en optimisation et ses
applications, que vous allez organiser en 2016.

Ce soutien peut être de deux types :

- un parrainage de l'événement par le GdR MOA (annonce sur la page du
GdR MOA et par la liste de diffusion)

- un soutien financier du GdR MOA. Etant donné le budget modeste du GdR,
ce soutien financier sera toujours relativement limité (un ou deux
milliers d'euros au maximum). Ce soutien devra exclusivement servir à
financer la participation de doctorants ou jeunes chercheurs.

Nous vous demandons donc de nous communiquer vos demandes de soutien
financier avant le 30 novembre 2015. Elles devront être accompagnées
d'une lettre de demande d'un des organisateurs principaux, organisateur
qui doit être membre du GdR MOA et qui s'engagera à utiliser ses fonds
pour les doctorants et jeunes chercheurs. Un budget prévisionnel devra
aussi être joint.

Les demandes de parrainage pourront quant à elles être traitées par le
bureau tout au long de l'année 2016.
