The Department of Mathematics at the University of Georgia invites applications for one tenure-track Assistent Professorship beginning Fall 2005. Complete applications, including letters of reference, must be received by December 8, 2004 to ensure full consideration.

Applicants should hold, or expect to hold before August 2005 a PhD in Pure or Applied mathematics, and should exhibit outstanding research potential and a commitment to excellence in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates whose research interests complement areas of current interest in the Department, which include algebra, algebraic geometry, analysis, applied mathematics, geometric analysis, mathematical physics, number theory, probability, representation theory and topology. It is expected that the eventual holder of the position will be active in seeking external research funding.

The application must include a completed AMS Standard Cover Sheet, a CV, a statement about current and future research, and a statement on teaching experience and philosophy. In addition applicants should arrange to have three letters of reference about research, and one letter of reference about teaching, sent to the Department.
