Abstract:

We construct a Lipschitz, non-$C^1$ map $u\colon \mathbb{R}^2\to \mathbb{R}^6$ which is the unique global minimizer of a smooth, strongly polyconvex functional. Such an example is necessarily non-homogeneous.
