Abstract:

In this paper we derive a linear elastic model starting from a nonlinear energy functional with infinitely many wells, including a second gradient perturbation that penalises transitions from one well to another. This is achieved by employing a suitable weak convergence for deformations which allows one to prove compactness by applying a rigidity estimate for incompatible fields.
