Riemann 200: Mathematics and Physics

Georg Friedrich Bernhard Riemann was born on 17 September 1826 in the Kingdom of Hannover. Despite the early death, he remains a towering figure in the history of mathematics as attested by the sheer number of concepts which carry his name: the Riemann integral, Riemannian manifolds, Riemann surfaces, the Cauchy-Riemann equations, the Riemann zeta function, the Riemann-Roch theorem, the Riemann curvature tensor. His influence on real and complex analysis, differential and algebraic geometry, analytic number theory, and mathematical physics is immeasurable.
To celebrate his 200th birthday, the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics and the Riemann Center for Geometry and Physics at the Leibniz University Hannover organise a conference: "Riemann200: Mathematics and Physics. A conference to celebrate the 200th birthday of Bernhard Riemann", which will take place March 16--20, 2026.
In addition to the plenary talks there will be four sections: "Analysis and Partial Differential Equations", "Differential Geometry", "Mathematical Physics", and "Riemann surfaces, abelian varieties, and moduli spaces". Further info can be found under "Timetable" and "Talks".
