No prior geometric knowledge will be assumed, but if you are curious about the G2 background please feel free to come to my seminar "Introduction to G2 geometry" on monday 22 april 16:00 (Univ. Pisa, Math. department).

Abstract.

Coupled geometric flows have attracted sporadic interest and the theory is still at an early stage. In certain geometric settings such couplings can be particularly useful. One known example, concerning the coupling MCF+Ricci Flow, appears in the context of Lagrangian submanifolds in Kaehler manifolds. We will review this fact, then discuss ideas for analogous couplings in the context of almost-Kaehler and G2 manifolds. This is joint work with Jason Lotay (UCL).
