title: Minimal speed of travelling waves

abstract: The problem is evaluating the minimal velocity for traveling waves in reaction-diffusion systems. In the scalar case, this problem is equivalent to computing the asymptotic propagation speed of perturbations. I present a variational characterization of this minimal velocity, and discuss the so-called linear-nonlinear selection phenomenon.
