Applications are invited for a PhD position in the analysis group at the Research Institute in Mathematics and Physics of UCLouvain, Belgium, under the supervision of Prof. Heiner Olbermann. The earliest starting date is 1 October 2019; a later start is possible too.

The PhD project will be a topic from the calculus of variations with applications in nonlinear elasticity. Job requirements are a master’s degree in mathematics or physics and a good working knowledge in analysis, in particular in areas such as the calculus of variations, partial differential equations, geometric measure theory, or mathematical continuum mechanics.
