FAU Erlangen - 11 Doctorate Positions - Interfaces, Complex Structures and Singular Limits in Continuum Mechanics

created by paolini on 12 Jan 2018

Deadline: 15 feb 2018

The Research Training Group "Interfaces, Complex Structures, and Singular Limits in Continuum Mechanics" (DFG-Graduiertenkolleg 2339) announces the opening of

11 Doctorate positions (75 %, TV-L 13, for 3 years)

at the Departments of Mathematics of Universität Regensburg and of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. Seven positions are starting on April 1, 2018, four positions are starting on September 1, 2018. The research at the Graduiertenkolleg focuses on many aspects of advanced mathematical modeling, analysis, and numerics with the perspective to understand complex phenomena observed in fluid mechanics, material engineering, biological systems, and other applied sciences. Typically, interfaces, multiple scales/fields, and small parameters (singular limits) are core features of the problems to be studied. The doctoral programme offers a structured course programme in partial differential equations, calculus of variations, numerical analysis, scientific computing, mathematical modeling, and professional skills. The prospective applicant for a doctorate position should hold a Diploma or Master degree in mathematics or in a related field. Applicants are asked to submit a CV, copies of certificates of academic qualifications held, a study track record, a copy of a degree thesis, and a statement of the scientific interests. Applications should be sent electronically to

harald.garcke AT ur.de or guenther.gruen AT fau.de

Compatibility of family and work is promoted at both universities. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. Equal opportunity is an essential element of our personnel policy. Applications from handicapped or equated applicants are welcome. Legally binding is the German version of this announcement, see www.uni-regensburg.deuniversitaetstellenausschreibungen.

Application deadlines: and July 1, 2018.
