Buescu: A cornucopia of surprises: the Riemann Hypothesis at 162

Buescu: password=coloquioDM
The Riemann Hypothesis (RH) is arguably the most important unsolved problems in Mathematics, being one of the outstanding Millenium Problems. In this talk we provide a bird’s eye view of RH as Riemann conceived it, showing its connection to the exact formula for distribution of primes; we describe some classical results related to RH derived during its first century of life; and we sketch several modern approaches which lead to unexpected connections to other branches of Mathematics, including the ghostly appearance of the critical strip in the author’s apparently unconnected research.
