One Phd-student and one Postdoc position at the University of Vienna

Applications are invited for one Postdoc and one PhD-student position (both for three years) under the supervision of Elisa Davoli, starting in April 2018 or as soon as possible thereafter.


  
The successful candidates will be employed at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna, and will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues both at the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Vienna, and at the  Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic in Prague, in the framework of the newly funded FWF-GACR grant ''Large strain challenges in materials science''. Ideal candidates would have a strong background in calculus of variations or applied analysis. The annual gross salaries for the Postdoc and PhD positions are approximately 51.000 EUR and 22.000 EUR, respectively. Both positions include no teaching loads.



Applicants for the Postdoc position must have (or be close to obtain) a PhD in Mathematics or Physics. Postdoc candidates are requested to provide a detailed CV and a short research statement (max 4 pages), together with names and full contact addresses of three references. 


Applicants for the PhD position must have (or be close to obtain) a Master in Mathematics or Physics. 
PhD candidates are requested to provide a detailed CV and a short description of current scientific interests, together with names and full contact addresses of two references. The PhD position is associated with the enrollment in the PhD program in Mathematics at the University of Vienna.
