Le Labex CIMI de Toulouse (http://www.cimi.univ-toulouse.fr) organise un 
semestre thématique en optimisation cette année 2018. Dans ce cadre, 
nous organisons à Toulouse du lundi 3 septembre au vendredi 7 septembre 
2018 une école en contrôle optimal numérique (dans les équations 
différentielles ordinaires) à destination principalement des doctorants 
et post-doctorants, mais cette école est bien sûr ouverte aussi aux 
enseignants chercheurs et industriels du domaine concerné.

TWO-WAY MESO–MICRO COUPLING FOR WIND FARM OPTIMIZATION AND DESIGN

This PhD position is based in the Turbulent Flow Simulation and 
Optimization (TFSO) research group headed by Prof. Johan Meyers, which 
is part of the department of Mechanical Engineering. The position is 
embedded in the FWO Meso–Micro Wind Farm project, funded by the Flemish 
Science Foundation. The project is a collaboration between the research 
group of Prof. Meyers and the Regional Climate Studies (RCS) research 
group of Prof. van Lipzig at the department of Earth and Environmental 
Sciences. The PhD research is one of two research positions on this 
project, and focusses on developing new two-way meso–micro coupling 
strategies for simulations, optimization and design of large wind farms.

Dans le cadre du semestre Optimisation organisé par le Labex CIMI, un 
workshop « Optimisation et Machine learning » aura lieu à l’Institut de 
Mathématiques de Toulouse du 10 au 13 septembre 2018. Ce workshop 
regroupera une quinzaine d’invités internationaux sur 4 jours, qui 
exposeront leurs derniers résultats sur des sujets comme l'apprentissage 
de représentations, l'approximation de rang faible, l'optimisation de 
fonctions complexes via l'utilisation d'approximations stochastiques, 
l'optimisation par processus gaussiens, ou les problèmes de bandits.
