collègues suivants : H. Attouch, A. Auslender, M. Balinski, B. Cornet,
I. Ekeland, J.-B. Hiriart-Urruty, J.-M. Lasry, C. Lemaréchal, J.-P.
Penot.

Pour le compte rendu d’anciennes journées:
http://smai.emath.fr/spip.php?article336

2018.

We are pleased to invite you to the annual meeting of the Gaspard Monge
Program for optimization and Operations research and their interactions
with data sciences ``PGMO days 2018'', which will take place on 20 and
21 of November 2018 at EDF Lab Paris Saclay.

PGMO is a program of Fondation Mathematique Jacques Hadamard, supported
by Criteo, EDF, Orange and Thales:
http://www.fondation-hadamard.fr/fr/pgmo/pgmodays

The PGMO days will be an opportunity to meet researchers both from
academy and industry.

The main goal of the conference is to bring together a number of leading
experts in geometric control theory, sub-Riemannian geometry, control on
Lie groups, dynamical and physical systems, and applications of
nonlinear control, in particular, in robotics. Interactions resulting
from the meeting will help to better understand and further develop the
issues being at the crossroads of control, geometry, and dynamics.

The conference is aimed to honour scientific activity of Bronisław
Jakubczyk, on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Geometric and Numerical Optimal Control, Application to Swimming at Low
Reynolds Number and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Authors: Bonnard, Bernard, Chyba, Monique, Rouot, Jeremy

This book introduces readers to techniques of geometric optimal control
as well as the exposure and applicability of adapted numerical schemes.
It is based on two real-world applications, which have been the subject
of two current academic research programs and motivated by industrial
use – the design of micro-swimmers and the contrast problem in medical
resonance imaging. The recently developed numerical software has been
applied to the cases studies presented here. The book is intended for
use at the graduate and Ph.D. level to introduce students from applied
mathematics and control engineering to geometric and computational
techniques in optimal control.

Postdoc (8 months funding) - Extremal spectral quantities and related
problems

Description. The purpose of this project is to combine analytic,
geometric and computational techniques to study extremal values of
different spectral quantities, such as individual eigenvalues, functions
of these eigenvalues and some global spectral quantities. More
specifically, some of the objects under consideration are the possible
extremal sets of the first eigenvalue of the Laplacian with Robin
boundary conditions, for which team members have recently shown that the
ball is no longer an optimiser for large negative values of the boundary
parameter, thus providing a counter-example to a 1977 conjecture, finite
combinations of eigenvalues of the Laplace and Schrödinger operators,
the functional determinant associated with these operators and the
spectral abscissa of the (non self-adjoint) operator associated with the
damped wave equation. To handle these problems a wide range of methods
is required, including those from geometric analysis, functional
analysis, control theory, n
  umerical analysis, etc.
