4- Postdoc Position in Optimization in Applied Math Department, 
Computational Research Division, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory

The Center for Computational Sciences and Engineering has an immediate 
opening for a postdoctoral researcher to work on the development of 
computational optimization algorithms for solving computationally 
expensive black-box optimization problems, in particular problems with 
uncertainty. We are looking for a candidate with experience in nonlinear 
optimization, including mixed-integer, derivative-free, or global 
optimization, who is interested in developing new solution approaches 
that integrate uncertainty quantification methods in optimization 
algorithms. The candidate will work independently as well as 
collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment that includes 
mathematicians, computer/computational scientists, and domain 
scientists. The candidate will have the opportunity to apply their 
developments to exciting application areas.

The Department of Applied Mathematics at the University of Colorado at 
Boulder invites applications for a tenure track faculty position at the 
Assistant Professor level to begin August 2018. The position is in the 
area of high dimensional data analysis (big data), with possible areas 
of emphasis including nonlinear optimization, analysis in 
high-dimensional spaces, randomized projections, probabilistic numerics, 
harmonic analysis, theoretical deep learning, and related areas.

University of Goettingen is seeking qualified applicants for an 
Assistant Professor in Mathematical Optimization (W1 Professor) starting

in English. While the position is not tenure track, this is a necessary 
step toward a permanent position within the German academic system.

8- Journées GDR MOA-MIA, 17-20 octobre, Bordeaux

Bonjour à tous,

Les GdR MOA et MIA organisent du mardi 17 au vendredi 20 Octobre à 
Bordeaux une conférence commune sur l'ensemble des thèmes des deux GdR, 
Optimisation et Image. Un accent particulier sera bien entendu mis sur 
les thèmes communs et plusieurs exposés en lien avec l'optimisation et 
l'image seront proposés.
Nous vous invitons chaleureusement à ces journées qui seront aussi 
l'occasion de rencontres et de discussions fructueuses entre collègues 
confirmés et plus jeunes. Vous êtes également invités à proposer des 
exposés de 30 minutes (25+5), n'hésitez pas. Le comité d'organisation 
composé des boards des deux GdR sectionnera les présentations de manière 
à équilibrer les thèmes et à donner la paroles à tous.
Parmi les orateurs déjà prévus on peut mentionner Sylvia Villa, Emilie 
Chouzenoux,  Patrick Combettes, Pierre Weiss, Jalal Fadili, Alexandre 
d'Aspremont et Jean-Baptiste Hiriart-Urruty
