Titolo: Contact inhibition of cell growth: the role of travelling wave
solutions

Abstract: Contact inhibition of cell growth is well known in biology:
contact between cells may reduce their growth. An elementary mathematical
model for contact inhibition in a population with two different types of
cells, yields a reaction diffusion equation coupled to a first order
hyperbolic equation. Hyperbolicity leads to the occurrence of sharp
interfaces. To understand the role which these interfaces play in the
inhibition mechanism, we analyse families of travelling wave solutions and
their velocities.     The results are based on an ongoing collaboration
with Izuhara, Mimura and Wakasa (Japan).
