Description : Cette étude s’inscrit dans le cadre du projet ANR
Déglutition & Respiration : Modélisation et e-Santé à domicile
(e-SwallHome, 2014-2018). Notre objectif est de proposer des méthodes de
traitement du signal et de machine learning pour segmenter et
différencier des événements physio-pathologiques, d’intérêt diagnostic
et clinique dans le cadre de la dysphagie (pathologie de la
déglutition), ciblée ici aux patients AVC. Une base de données de
signaux acquis sur volontaires sains est disponible. Des acquisitions
sur patients AVC sont en cours au CHU de Grenoble. L’étape de traitement
des signaux, principalement basée sur des approches spectrale et/ou
temps-fréquence, permet de faire émerger des paramètres, dont la
pertinence décisionnelle est à analyser avec des méthodes de
machine-learning.

Decision Support Systems for Efficient and Robust Energy Networks"
Scope and objectives
Energy Production and Distribution (EP&D) is among the biggest
challenges of our time, since energy is a scarce resource whose
efficient production and fair distribution is associated with many
technical, economical, political and ethical issues like environmental
protection and people health or equity of access to energy services.
EP&D networks have rapidly increased in size and complexity, e.g. with
the liberalisation and openness of markets within the EU. Thus, there is
an increasing need of systems supporting the operational, regulatory and
design decisions through highly inter-disciplinary approaches, where
experts of all the concerned fields contribute to the definition of
appropriate mathematical models. This is particularly challenging
because these models require the simultaneous use of many different
mathematical optimization tools and the verification by experts of the
underlying engineering and financial issues.
The electric power system is an essential infrastructure of modern
developed societies. The electricity network has been subject to steady
technological developments involving the deployment of sensors,
computation, advanced metering, communications, and controlsystems, as
well as the integration of dispersed generation based on renewable
sources imposing new technical challenges. Moreover, planning tasks have
become more complex due to the unbundling of the industry value chain
and market structures, also taking into account the need to offer new
services to consumers and prosumers (simultaneously producers and
consumers). The dissemination of storage devices and electric vehicles
create further challenges, also regarding the pressure to provide
increased levels of quality of service. In this global setting, the
evolution of the electric power system to smart grids refers to the
deployment and use of monitoring, analysis, bi-directional
communication, and control technologies to manage the whole value chain
of electricity from generation to consumption in a sustainable, reliable
and efficient manner, facilitating the integration of new generation,
namely that based on renewable sources, and empowering consumers through
appropriate demand response mechanisms. In addition, future energy
networks are expected to become increasingly interconnected and
interdependent. Optimization models and methods have a relevant role to
play to cope with this complexity to develop smart networks within more
integrated and sustainable energy system, encompassing electricity, gas,
heat, and information and communication technologies. Therefore smart
grid concepts refer to maximising the efficiency of the overall energy
chain to ensure a smooth energy transition.
The objectives of this workshop are bringing together scientists,
engineers, researchers, and students from academy and industry to share
recent research and unveil new research directions concerning the use of
optimization models and methods to address the challenges arising in the
evolution of energy networks to smart grids.
Contributions to the workshop are expected to cover a wide range of
topics including: integration of renewable energy generation, storage,
demand forecast, demand side management and demandresponse, smart
metering, system reliability and provision ofancillary services,
microgrids, electricity smart grids, gas smart grids, network
integration, information and communication technologies, internet of
things, big data, and improved methods to optimize the resulting complex
energy models. Additional topics related to other optimization
challenges in the evolution of energy networks to smart grids are
welcome. Contributions reporting real-world case studies are
particularly appreciated.
Guidelines for authors
Abstracts (one page, 2500 char. max) must be written in English and
should be formatted according to the template
Each participant can present just one paper, although he/she may
co-author several papers.

18- Deces de R. Fletcher

C’est avec tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de Roger Fletcher
professeur émérite à l’Université de Dundee (UK). Roger était un grand
spécialiste de l’analyse numérique, travaillant principalement dans les
domaines de l’algèbre linéaire et de l’optimisation. De nombreuses
contributions originales lui sont dues et plusieurs méthodes numériques
portent son nom. Roger avait codé de nombreux programmes basés sur son
travail et ces algorithmes sont aujourd’hui largement utilisés. Il avait
également supervisé de nombreux étudiants qui aujourd’hui poursuivent
son travail. Il avait en particulier reçu le prix Dantzig en 1997 et le
prix Lagrange en 2006. Il fut par ailleurs membre élu de la Royal
Society de Edinburgh en 1988, de Londres en 2003 et de SIAM en 2009. Il
avait également reçu une médaille royale de la Royal Society de
Edinburgh en 2011.

19- Deces de J. Borwein

C’est avec tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de Jonathan Borwein.
Jonathan Borwein était professeur de mathématiques à l’université de
Newcastle et président du comité consultatif scientifique de
l’Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute. Il a également été
administrateur de la Mathematical Association of America et président de
la Société mathématique du Canada, du consortium HPC consortium et du
comité de l’information électronique et des communications de l’Union
mathématique internationale. Ses recherches s’étendaient de l’analyse
(en mathématiques pures) à l’optimisation (en mathématiques appliquées).
Il a publié plus de 400 articles scientifiques et une dizaine de livres,
dont une monographie sur les fonctions convexes. Il était par ailleurs
le co-fondateur de la compagnie de logiciels MathResources, développant
principalement du matériel pédagogique lié aux mathématiques. Borwein
obtint plusieurs récompenses, dont le prix Chauvenet (1993). Il devint
membre de la Société royale du Canada (1994), de l’Association
américaine pour l’avancement des sciences (2002), obtint un diplôme
honorifique de Limoges (1999) et devint membre de l’Académie bulgare des
sciences (2003). Il fut élu membre de l’Académie australienne des
sciences (2010) ainsi que membre de l’American Mathematical Society en
2014.

20- Décès de Jean-Christophe Yoccoz

Chers membres de la SMAI,
J'ai la très grande tristesse de vous annoncer le décès de
Jean-Christophe Yoccoz, survenu le 3 septembre 2016, à l'âge de
cinquante-neuf ans.
Jean-Christophe Yoccoz a reçu la médaille Fields en 1994. Il a été
professeur à l'université Paris-Sud de 1988 à 1996, et était professeur
au Collège de France depuis 1996.
