3- Doctoral position in multi-sensory perception and control of movement
ONERA & EUROMOV, South of France
(source : M. Mongeau)
ONERA and EUROMOV (Montpellier University) in the south of France invite
applications for a doctoral position from highly motivated scholars with
research interests in perception-action, neurosciences, applied
mathematics, pilot-vehicle systems in aviation.
PROJECT:
The successful candidate will integrate a new French project – CoSenses
– conducted on behalf of Airbus Industries & Airbus Helicopters that
aims at investigating the multisensory nature of perception and action
in the context of piloted aircrafts. CoSenses, which combines basic and
applied research, involves a strong collaboration between two
laboratories, EUROMOV in Montpellier and ONERA (The French Aerospace
Lab) in Salon de Provence, and addresses two complementary scientific
challenges related to the perception and control of instrumented flying,
i.e., (i) modelling and (ii) experimenting. For (i) the multi-sensory
landscape corresponding to ecological and potentially risky situations
will be modelled, using theories and methods from multisensory
psychophysics, computational neurosciences, and/or non-linear dynamics.
For (ii), the model(s) will be implemented and tested in simulated then
real flying situations, through controlled behavioural experiments and
evaluation studies. The outcomes of the project will be used by a
dedicated team of experts to design technological solutions for boosting
piloting performance in the identified situations. CoSenses will benefit
from the availability of i-Mose (Interactive Motion Simulator at
EUROMOV), a unique large-scale 6-degrees-of-freedom motion-based
platform, as well as from the ONERA expertise and flying facilities.
More information about EUROMOV and its i-Mose platform can be found at
www.euromov.eu. More information about ONERA can be found at
http://www.onera.fr/en.
REQUIREMENTS:
The candidate must have (1) a master degree or equivalent obtained in
one relevant field of research, (2) experience in analysing and
modelling multisensory perception and movement control, (4) experience
in the design, data acquisition and analysis of human experiments, (5)
some programming and data processing skills (e.g., Matlab, C++, NI
LabView or equivalent). The ideal candidates are highly motivated and
creative individuals, capable of working independently and in a
multi-country and multidisciplinary environment. The working language is
English and/or French.
CONDITIONS:
The successful applicant will join both the ONERA’s Department of
Systems Control and Flight Dynamics in Salon de Provence
(Jean-Christophe Sarrazin, Thomas Rakotomamonjy) and the EUROMOV
research centre in Montpellier (Benoît Bardy, Jérémie Landrieu, Jamilah
Abdur-Rahim), wih regular exchanges with AIRBUS SAS and AIRBUS
HELICOPTERS. Predominant location will be Salon or Montpellier depending
on the candidate’s specific project and interests. S/he will be
registered in the Doctoral School of Movement Sciences in the south of
France (ED 463, Montpellier site). The position is full time, for 36
months, with a net salary depending on experience and complementary
teaching duties), including social benefits and health insurance. The
position shall begin on October 1, 2016.
INQUIRIES & APPLICATIONS:
To apply, please send an email to Benoît Bardy
(benoit.bardy/at/umontpellier.fr) and to Jean-Christophe Sarrazin
(jean-christophe.sarrazin/at/onera.fr), coordinators of the CoSenses
project, with the subject line "Co-Senses PhD 2016", including a full

On
Le but
page :

15- 4th European Conference on Computational Optimization, Leuven,
Belgium, September 12-14, 2016
(source : O. S. serea)
The European Conference on Computational Optimization (EUCCO) series was
started in 2004. The first edition took place in Dresden, and was
followed in 2007 by a conference in Montpellier, and in 2013 by a
conference in Chemnitz. The 2016 edition will be held in Leuven,
Belgium. It is organized by the KU Leuven Center of Excellence on
Optimization in Engineering (OPTEC), and by the TEMPO Marie Curie
Initial Training Network: Training in Embedded Predictive Control and
Optimization.
The scope of the conference series is quite broad as it brings together
scientists from a diversity of subdisciplines from the fields of
computational optimization, algorithms and applications. The current

Auteurs : J.F. Bonnans et S. Gaubert, Inria-Saclay et CMAP, Ecole
Polytechnique,
Editions de l'Ecole Polytechnique (diffusion Ellipse)
Description :
d'application.
