14- The 7th International Seminar on Optimization and Variational
Analysis (OVA7) and ALEL 2016, 1-8 June, 2016
(source : F. Aragón et D. Aussel)

The 7th International Seminar on Optimization and Variational Analysis
(OVA7) will be held in University of Alicante, the days 1, 2 and 3 of
June of 2016. This will be the seventh edition of a series of seminars
organized, since 2007, by the "Optimization and Stability" research
groups of Alicante and Miguel Hernández (Elche) Universities. The
website of the event is http://ova7th.wix.com/ova7

This edition will basically consist of 4 plenary talks of 50 minutes, 22
invited talks of 35 minutes, and a poster session. There will be a
special session devoted to applications, which will be funded by the
Gaspard Monge Program for Optimization and Operations Research (PGMO).
Its principal aim is to establish contacts and to improve the background
of the involved groups in the tools and techniques of optimization and
variational analysis, as well as related topics like vector
optimization, generalized differentiation, and functional analysis,
among others.

OVA7 will have some special significance because it will be dedicated to
70th birthday of Prof. Michel Théra (Université de Limoges, France).
This fact constitutes a challenge for the organizers of the workshop and
for the Scientific Committee, which is composed by J. Borwein, R.
Correa, I. Ekeland, M. Goberna, F. Giannessi, J.-B. Hiriart-Urruty, M.
López-Cerdá, J. Parra, and C. Sagastizabal.

Profs. Regina Burachick, Ivar Ekeland, Jon Borwein and Heinz Bauschke
have already accepted to be Plenary Speakers in the workshop.

The days 6, 7 and 8 of June, immediately after OVA7, there will be in
Cartagena (Carthago Nova, 125 km. from Alicante), a new edition of ALEL
(ALEL 2016), co-organized by the Functional Analysis group of the
University of Murcia and the universities of Limoges, Alicante and
Miguel Hernández (Elche). The website of this related event is

18- 13- 2016 World Congress of the Game Theory Society, Maastricht
The Netherlands, 24-28 July 2016
(sorce : R. Laraki)

GAMES 2016, the 5th World Congress of the Game Theory Society, will be
held at Maastricht University from 24 to 28 July 2016.
Game Theory focusses on models of conflict, competition and cooperation,
in which the different parties focus on their own individual aims. What
are your best choices in light of what your competitors will do? How can
you assign your staff as good as possible on all tasks that must be
performed within your organization, taking into account their individual
knowledge, skills and wishes? The societal importance of this field is
illustrated by the Nobel Prizes in Economics that have been awarded to
game theorists like Nash, Selten, Harsanyi (1994), Aumann, Schelling
(2005), Hurwicz, Maskin, Myerson (2007), Roth, Shapley (2012), and
Tirole (2014).

Some of them, including Aumann, Maskin and Myerson, have already agreed
to participate in GAMES 2016.

Keynote Speakers

David Schmeidler, Tel Aviv University and Ohio State University
(President GTS)

Larry Samuelson, Yale University (President-Elect GTS)

Robert J. Aumann, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, (Nobel Laureate 2005)

Eric Maskin, Harvard University, Cambridge, (Nobel Laureate 2007)

Roger Myerson, University of Chicago, (Nobel Laureate 2007)

Morgenstern Lecture: Thomas Palfrey, Flintridge Professor of Economics
and Political Science at the California Institute of Technology

von Neumann Lecture: Sylvain Sorin, Professor at the University of Paris
VI (Pierre and Marie Curie)

Shapley Lecture: Bruno Ziliotto

Kalai Prize Lecture: Tim Roughgarden, is an Associate Professor of
Computer Science and (by courtesy) Management Science and Engineering at
Stanford University

19- The fourteenth annual "Modeling and OPtimization: Theory and
Applications" (MOPTA),
Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, August 17-19, 2016
(source : M. Théra)

Dear Friends and Colleagues
With apologies for cross-postings...

We cordially invite you to contribute to the fourteenth annual "Modeling
and OPtimization: Theory and Applications" (MOPTA) conference, organized
at Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, August 17-19, 2016.

MOPTA aims at bringing together a diverse group of people from both
discrete and continuous optimization, working on both theoretical and
applied aspects. There will be invited plenary talks from distinguished
speakers as well as organized sessions and contributed talks, spread
over three days. Our target is to provide a diverse set of exciting new
developments from different areas of optimization research while at the
same time providing a setting which will allow increased interaction
among the participants. We aim to bring together researchers from both
the theoretical and applied communities in the framework of a
medium-scale event who do not usually have the chance to interact in
larger meetings.

We welcome contributed talks, and we are also very interested in hearing
from people who could organize a session centered around one of their
topics of expertise. MOPTA sessions have 3 speakers, with 30 mins per
presentation including Q&A's. Speakers will be kindly asked to submit
their abstract on the MOPTA website. The deadline for abstract
submission is May 20.

Confirmed plenary speakers:
* Sem Borst (Technische Universiteit Eindhoven)
* Gerard P. Cornuejols (Carnegie Mellon University)
* Michael P. Friedlander (University of California, Davis)
* Jacek Gondzio (The University of Edinburgh)
* David Simchi-Levi (MIT)
* Michael Pinedo (New York University)
* Robert Shorten (University College Dublin)

Please contact
   Alexander Stolyar (als714 at lehigh.edu)
or
   Martin Takac (Takac.MT at gmail.com)
if you would like to organize a session for MOPTA.
