Dear Virginia,

I'm glad to see so many announcements of post-doctoral positions in Roma La
Sapienza.

Since they are so many I think it would be worthwhile to clarify this
common point: how do you handle the requirements of Article 3 of the call?
This article, based on a Royal Decree (!!) from the '30s, imposes some
strict bureaucratic procedures (to be done at the Italian consulates
abroad, typically by appointment only) to those applicants who have foreign
degrees.

It seems that one could apply even without any degree (the call is open to
all those who have "suitable scientific experience"), so a reasonable point
of view - suggested by some of the colleagues that I already bothered with
the same issues in the last weeks (sorry for being so tedious) - could be
"foreign candidates just apply without any official degree, but they tell
us what's their actual qualification in their CV, and we will evaluate them
on the basis of the truth, and not of the official truth". But I'm not sure
that this is the common opinion, and also I'm not sure that this is really
feasible.

I dare to write this email to everybody just because it could be useful to
possible foreign candidates : both noticing this rule, and if possible
getting some indications by the colleagues in charge of this recruitment,
could help them in organizing their application.

Filippo
