Sorry for the mass-mail; I am anxious to get good candidates to the following
(please forward as you please).
Best regards, Guy David

Here is the announcement for an ESR position
(3 years of support leading to a PhD degree)
at the mathematics department of Université de Paris Sud (Orsay), and
to prepare a PhD under the supervision of Guy David.

The proposed research field is ?Minimal Surfaces, Analysis, and Geometric
Measure Theory?, and the topic would be ?Existence results for some
Plateau problems?. But the specifics may of course vary, for instance
depending on the student?s background and preferences.

Some technical details (more can be found on the site
http://manet.dm.unibo.it/recruitment.php which should also be consulted
for other ESR positions in different universities):
Financing comes from the Marie Curie ITN network MAnET (Metric Analysis
for Emergent Technologies).

Duration: 36 months

Starting date: September 2014

Living allowance + mobility allowance:
According to the MC-ITN rules the basis for calculating the gross
monthly living allowance of the recruited Early Stage Researcher is
38.000 ?/year as a living allowance, plus a mobility allowance
700/1000 ?/month (depending on the family status). These amounts
include overheads and are subject to the applicable country correction
coefficient to adjust to the cost of living of the country where the
project is carried out.

Mobility requirements: According to the regulations for mobility
within the Marie Curie program, at the time of recruitment by the host
organization, researchers must not have resided or carried out their
main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host
organization for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior
to the reference date.

For all recruitments, the eligibility of the researcher will be
determined at the time of recruitment and the status of the researcher
will not evolve over the life-time of a contract.

Academic requirements: Master's degree and less that 4 years
(full-time) research experience after Master's degree.

Deadline for applications: May 31, 2014.
How to apply:

send an e-mail to guy.david at math.u-psud.fr,
expressing your interest in the position, and please include

- Curriculum Vitae (pdf-file)
- Pdf copy of your identity document (with photo)
- Short presentation letter (max. 3 pages); include a presentation the
last courses you followed,
