Hooke and Titchmarsh Fellowships
Vacancy Reference:
105311
Grade:
7
Salary Range:
£29,249 - £35,938 p.a.
Appointment Term:
36 months
We invite applications from exceptionally talented postdoctoral
researchers for Hooke and Titchmarsh Fellowships. These are prestigious
three-year research posts in the University of Oxford which will be an
ideal opportunity for exceptional candidates to pursue an independent
research programme. The Fellowships are 36-month, fixed-term positions
and, should candidates of sufficient merit apply, we anticipate
appointing up to four Hooke Fellows and up to four Titchmarsh Fellows.
*Hooke Fellowships*: Candidates must have primary research interests
compatible with those of the faculty in the Centre for Mathematical
Biology, the Oxford Centre for Collaborative Applied Mathematics, the
Oxford Centre for Industrial and Applied Mathematics or the Numerical
Analysis Group. These posts are partially funded by a grant from the
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology and are available
from 1 April 2013. Successful candidates must be in post by 1 July 2013.
*Titchmarsh Fellowships*: Candidates for these Fellowships must have
primary research interests compatible with those of the faculty members
in the algebra, combinatorics, geometry, logic, mathematical and
computational finance, mathematical physics, number theory, stochastic
analysis or topology groups or the Oxford Centre for Nonlinear PDE.
These posts are available from 1 July 2013 and the successful candidates
must be in post by 1 September 2013.
Duties include undertaking research at the highest academic standards,
disseminating research via conference presentations and journal
publications and providing a small amount of undergraduate teaching.
You must have a PhD in Mathematics or related discipline, and be able to
demonstrate from your previous experience and achievements a track
record of outstanding research at postdoctoral level, including evidence
of previous independent research, a realisable research plan which would
enhance the Mathematical Institute's research profile, a record of
papers published in major international journals and evidence of
participation at conferences. You must have completed either your PhD or
have held a postdoc position outside Oxford.
Additional information about the posts, and a full list of selection
criteria, are available in the job description.
Please direct informal enquiries to the Administrative Assistant
(email:vacancies at maths.ox.ac.uk <mailto:vacancies at maths.ox.ac.uk>),
quoting vacancy reference 105311.
Applicants should read the job description before writing their
application. You will be required to upload: a supporting letter
setting out how you meet the selection criteria; a curriculum vitae
including full list of publications with top three papers starred; a
copy of your best paper; a statement of research interests and a plan
for research during the Fellowship; and the names and contact details of
two referees as part of your online application. Your cover letter must
state whether you wish to apply for a Hooke or Titchmarsh Fellowship and
must also state the research group(s) with which your research is aligned.
If you think your research straddles the border between the Fellowships,
please state this in your letter. The panels will then jointly decide on
the appropriate Fellowship scheme for your application.
Applications for this vacancy are to be made online. To apply for this
