Dear colleagues,

this is the first announcement of the program "PDE's in Rome: School
and Conference" which will take place at Rome (Italy) in the period
September 17-28, 2012.

During the first week, the Department of Mathematics, University of
Rome Tre, will host the School on "Nonlinear PDE's from Geometry and
Physics'', mainly addressed to PhD students, concerning selected
topics in nonlinear PDE's. The program consists of a series of
lectures delivered by:

- Philippe Bolle, Université d'Avignon
Implicit function theorems in Fréchet spaces and applications to
Hamiltonian PDEs

- Xavier Cabré, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya
Regularity and symmetry of minimizers for semilinear elliptic problems

- Walter Craig, McMaster University
TBA

- Jean-Marc Delort, Université Paris Nord
Introduction to pseudo-differential and para-differential calculus

- Frank Pacard, École Polytechnique
TBA

In the second week, the Conference ''New perspectives in nonlinear
PDE's'' will take place at the historical palace Argiletum in the
center of Rome (close to the Colosseum). The conference aims to gather
mathematicians working in the field of nonlinear PDE's. Particularly
we wolud like to favor the exchange of ideas and knowledge from
different but affine research areas. Therefore we would like to cover
different approaches as well as various classes of solutions such as
stationary, periodic, quasi- and almost-periodic, soliton like, etc.
The meeting is advised by a Scientific Committee composed by M. Berti,
P. Bolle, X. Cabré, W. Craig, J-M. Delort, F. Pacard, G. Tarantello. A
preliminary list of invited Speakers is available at the webpage
https://sites.google.com/site/pdesrome/ (under the section Conference:
New perspectives in nonlinear PDE's) as well as useful information on
the whole two-weeks program.
We will have some funds available for students who wish to attend the
school and/or the conference. If you are interested in participating,
please send an e-mail to the organizers at the address
romanpdes at gmail.com. The deadline for the application is July 20,
2012.
Please let this first announcement circulate in your departments
and forward it to anyone might be interested in. Participants are
recommended to register by sending an e-mail to romanpdes at gmail.com.

We are looking forward to meet you in Rome.

Sorry if you receive multiple copies of this message, due to cross-posting.
With our best wishes,

The organizing committee
