Terrà  un seminario dal titolo:

 

"All About Waves"

 

Abstract

 

The study of localized waves has a long history dating back to the discoveries in the 1800s describing water waves in shallow water.  Both in fluid dynamics and nonlinear optics there has been considerable interest in various aspects of localized waves. Nonlinear waves in water and optics have many similar features. After some historical remarks, topics that will be briefly discussed include: a novel formulation of water and interfacial waves, some new properties of gravity-capillary waves,  ultra-short pulse dynamics in mode-locked lasers and nonlinear waves in photonic lattices.
