OPEN CALL FOR A VISITING PROFESSOR POSITION (UAB)



The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is seeking to fill a 3-month's visiting professor position during fall 2010 with the following characteristics:

·           The position is offered for a stay at the Department of Mathematics of the UAB within the period September 20 to December 20, 2010, approximately. The total remuneration (for the 3 months) is a net amount of 9000 Euros.

·           The applicant should not have been working (or holding visiting positions) in European universities or research institutions for more than 12 months within the last 5 years. The applicant is expected to be a senior researcher with a tenure (or tenure-track) position in his/her institute of origin, have a strong research record in Applied Mathematics with emphasis in Optimization, and demonstrated teaching skills.



Teaching duties

The chosen person undertakes the commitment to teach a course of 40 hours in Combinatorial Optimization within a Master Programme. He/she will be the only responsible for the organization of the course (lectures, exercises, computer sessions ...) as well as for the evaluation exams. The course should emphasize the aspects of modeling and computation. The teaching language is English.

Research
The applicant will have the opportunity to participate in the activities of the Research Program in Variational Analysis and Optimization (Seminars, Workshop, Conference) which will be held during the same period at the CRM (see www.crm.cat/RPOPT2010<http://www.crm.cat/RPOPT2010>  for details).
