Position of Assistant Professor in Mathematics for Economics or Finance,
Paris, France

The Department of Mathematics of Paris-Dauphine University (CEREMADE)
invites applications for a permanent position in Mathematics applied to
Economics and/or Finance at the Assistant Professor level. beginning
September 1, 2010.

This is a special, joint position between Paris-Dauphine University and
the French « Centre National de la Recherche Scientique » (CNRS), leading
to a reduced teaching load, an improved salary, and special research
funds.

The CEREMADE, located in central Paris, is a prestigious mathematics
department, specialized in Analysis, Probability, Statistics and
Mathematics applied to Economics and/or Finance. In the recent Academic
Ranking of World Universities in Mathematics of Shanghaï Jiao-Tong
university, it was ranked 9th out of all non-US departments.

Accordingly, applicants are expected to have an outstanding research
record (or potential). They must hold a Ph.D. or doctorate degree in
mathematics, or in economics/finance, with a strong mathematical
component. Candidates having already an assistant professor or equivalent
position are not required to obtain the « French national qualification »
from the « Conseil National des Universités ».

The successful candidate is expected to teach around 40 hours a year
(mostly at the graduate level), to supervise Master students, and most
importantly to be committed to an outstanding research program. The
position is expected to start on September 1, 2010. Depending on the
experience of the candidate, the gross salary will be in the range of 35
000 to 45 000 euros a year. This regular salary can be increased through
bonus schemes. Dedicated research funds will be available.

We encourage applications from all fields of mathematics applied to
economics or finance, the main selection criterion being excellence in the
field. However, special attention will be paid to topics allowing for a
fruitful collaboration with other members of the department.
