JOB SUMMARY: The Centro de Matem=E1tica e =

Aplica=E7=F5es (CMA) from the Universidade Nova
de Lisboa, invites applications for a 5 year =

research position as researcher to work in one of =

the
following areas:
1. Numerical Analysis of Partial Differential Equations in Fluid Mechanics.
2. Partial Differential Equations, with special =

emphasis on Mathematical Modeling of Biological
Phenomena.
3. Partial Differential Equations, with special =

emphasis on Schr=F6dinger-like Dispersive
Equations.

The successful candidates will collaborate with =

the team of Numerical Analysis and Differential
Equations. The team has experience and competence in the area.
No teaching duties are associated with this =

position, however the chosen candidate may be
asked to participate in the training of graduating students.
The candidates applying specifically to Numerical =

Analysis of Partial Differential Equations in
Fluid Mechanics, should have a deep knowledge of =

the Finite Element Method, both from the
theoretical and mathematical aspects as well as =

from its applications in order to solve the
Navier Stokes equations. Knowledge in solving =

fluid/structure interaction problems will also be
of great interest. Also regarding Mathematical =

Modeling of Biological Phenomena, experience in
Computational Modeling and Simulation is welcome.
Applicants must have a Ph D in Mathematics, a =

significant experience in the area and present a
strong research program.
