Centro de Matemática e Aplicações Fundamentais at Universidade de Lisboa 
invites applications for one five year position as researcher to work in 
the one of the following areas:
-Partial Differential Equations, with special emphasis on Quasilinear 
Hyperbolic Differential Equations.
-Calculus of Variations and Homogenization
-Numerical Structural Optimization with special emphasis on Shape/Topology 
Optimization.

The CMAF team has already experience and competence in these areas through 
the study of hyperbolic systems associated to conservation laws and phase 
transitions,  calculus of variation in homogenization (elasticity) and 
structural optimization (shape optimization, topology optimization). 

The successful applicant is expected to collaborate with the local team 
and participate in seminars. Although there are no teaching duties 
associated with this position, he or she may be asked to participate in 
the training of graduate students. In the case of candidates oriented to 
Numerical Analysis, experience in Computational Modelling and Simulation, 
Scientific Data Visualization and Object Oriented Programming is welcome.

The position is sponsored by the Ministry of Science of Portugal under a 
doctoral job offers program launched in 2007.

Applicants must have a Ph D in Mathematics and at least three years 
research experience after that, together with a strong research program.
