The second Summer School of the Center for Nonlinear
Analysis (CNA) will be held at Carnegie Mellon University
during the period May 27, 2004 - June 5, 2004.

The list of lecturers includes:

Luigi Ambrosio, Scuola Normale Superiore, Pisa (ITALY)
Maria-Carme Calderer, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis
Wilfrid Gangbo, Georgia Tech University
Nassif Ghoussoub, University of British Columbia (CANADA)
Irene Fonseca, Carnegie Mellon University
Stefan Mueller, Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the
    Sciences,  Leipzig (GERMANY)

One or two-hour talks will also be delivered by other
speakers from "local" institutions including Carnegie
Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh, and Penn State
University.

Topics will cover:

-- Transport equation and Cauchy problem for BV vector
fields

-- Phase transitions in liquid crystals

-- Mass transport problems

-- Plate and membrane theories in nonlinear elasticity

-- Higher order variational problems

Advanced undergraduate students, graduate students, and
posdoctoral fellows are encouraged to apply for financial
