The Faculty for Mathematics and Computer Science of the Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität, Muenster, Germany, invites applicants for a W2-Professorship (fm) for Biomedical Computing andor Biomedical Modeling at the Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics to be filled for a period of 5 years.

The open position is for the newly established Cluster of Excellence ”Cells in Motion-CiM” http://www.uni-muenster.de/CiMIC with interdisciplinary contributions from medicine, physics, mathematics, computer science, chemistry, pharmacy and biology. The applicant benefits as a principal investigator from the full infrastructure of the center.

The participant should be a renown expert in a topical research field of computational and applied mathematics, for example in mathematical modeling, numerical simulation or mathematical image processing. It is expected that the applicant contributes to the extension of the existing close collaboration between the Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics and the life sciences in Münster, particularly in the context of CiM. Common research interests with the mathematical research priorities of the Institute for Computational and Applied Mathematics are desirable and it is expected that the candidate contributes actively in interdisciplinary projects in CiM as well as in interdisciplinary teaching. Moreover, it is expected that the applicant participates in the general teaching duties in applied mathematics.

Prerequisite for the application are academic achievements made as a Junior professor (assistant professor), by a Habilitation (postdoctoral qualification), as a member of the academic staff of a university or non-university research institute, or in a research position in business, industry, administration or other relevant fields in Germany or abroad.
